If you want to improve your holistic health, there are several simple steps that you can incorporate into your everyday, busy life. These aren’t your generic “eat heathy and exercise” tips!
5 Simple Steps to Improve Holistic Health
Improving your holistic health involves more than just eating healthier and exercising more. While those are both important in healthy living, there are many other components to holistic living, such as mental health and mindfulness. Not to mention, healthy eating and exercise are both hard steps to achieve when your mind is not in the right place.
These things can seem out of reach when you live a busy life, like many of us do, but there are some simple things you can do every day to improve your holistic health and inspire mindful living.
1. Outdoor Yoga
Get out of your stuffy home or gym and allow nature to encourage your yoga sessions.
If you have kids, going outside is a great way to keep them entertained and busy so you can focus on yoga. Sometimes, my toddler joins me and I teach him new poses. It helps to mellow him out, too, and encourages exercise & health via imitation.
Yoga can be done while saying affirmations (you will read more about affirmations below), and also to guided meditation. I enjoy the meditations found in the Spire Mindfulness + Activity Tracker app.

2. Practice Mindfulness in the Morning
You are bound to experience stress, anxiety, or frustration during your day. Making a point to experience calmness at the start of your day will set you up for a more peaceful mindset when those stresses and trials come your way.

3. Remove Toxicity
Unfortunately, we are typically surrounded by toxicity in many forms, such as: body products, food, our own mindset, environment, and people. Removing some of these forms of toxicity/stressors, or taking action to lessen toxicity in our lives, will reduce stress and improve holistic health.

Easy Ways to Remove (or Lessen) Toxicity Today

- Put a vase of fresh flowers on your dining table or desk at work.

4. Eat Mindfully
Of course, healthy eating is a no-brainer when it comes to healthy living. You can find thousands and thousands of articles about that. However, mindful eating takes “healthy eating” to another level and helps take the stress out of healthy eating.
Having knowledge about ingredients is important – But perhaps more important is your mindset about eating. Mindful eating is eating with intention (being aware and thinking about what you are eating and why), as well as being in tune with our hunger cues instead of eating because of cravings or comfort.

5. Incorporate Affirmations into Your Life

Why I Use the Spire Mindfulness + Activity Tracker
As a mom, my patience is constantly tested. I am also, in general, a more anxious person. It is a daily goal of mine to be more gentle and calm.
